No job cuts, no closures: Tavares trusts Opel talent to shine through

PSA's CEO exudes optimism that he can turn around Opel without closing plants, but others are wary - this isn't the same EU in which he worked his magic before. By Megan Lampinen

PSA has confirmed that Opel/Vauxhall will be given a second chance under its guiding wing. The business has spent the past 88 years under General Motors ownership, but most of these more recent years have been plagued with losses. "When coupled with increasingly complex regulations related to emissions, plus Brexit, selling Opel makes sense," commented Rebecca Lindland, Executive Analyst for Kelley Blue Book. PSA believes it can transform the operation into a profitable machine in just a few short years, and all without job cuts or plant closures.
