Johnson Controls has developed a new battery that fits underneath a car seat to power interior functions

It’s not just engines that are getting the electric treatment - car seats are joining in, but not how you may think. Electric motors are already integrated into the seats of most modern cars on the road today to control height and positioning adjustments. In future, however, car seats could house battery units that power interior functions, relieving the powertrain of its supporting duties in running air conditioning and electric windows, for example.
