Bringing electric propulsion to the passenger car segment entails plenty of challenges in terms of cost, weight and performance. Replace that car with a heavy truck and a varying payload, and the obstacles multiply. But some of these are beginning to drop away. Interest in the electric car segment has stimulated advances in battery technology, sending costs falling. Add in tightening emissions regulations, looming internal combustion engine (ICE) bans and growing interest in urban green zones, and an electric future suddenly becomes much more feasible.
