The role of smartphones in connected cars has been limited, being predominantly deployed for vehicle multimedia controls. However, with smartphones becoming more powerful computing platforms, we want to explore the possibility of performing local vehicle analytics within the vehicle room using smartphones, circumventing intermittent connectivity issues in long-distance mobile networks.
