MAUT data for March suggests a slowing in German Euro VI adoption

Oliver Dixon examines Germany’s latest MAUT road toll data

On the basis that transportation is a derived demand, and on the assumption that truck operators seek to maximise vehicle utilisation by minimising empty running, so truck toll data in terms of absolute kilometres driven provides a useful proxy in terms of overall economic health.

Germany’s Federal Office for Goods Transport - the Bundesamt für Güterverkehr (BAG) - publishes MAUT data to include all vehicles above 7.5 tonnes GVW (7,500 kg, 16,535 lbs) on a monthly basis.
