Micromobility transitions from disruptive concept to core mobility offering

With investor interest high and more cities taking it seriously, the micromobility market looks set for a period of rapid success. By Jack Hunsley

The pandemic decimated many shared mobility services in its early wake, but one sector saw much the opposite impact: micromobility. The option to quickly hire a private electric scooter or bike appealed to many urban commuters who still needed to get from A to B and who also wanted to take advantage of the quieter roads and good weather. However, can stakeholders in this industry drive home this advantage?

McKinsey’s Kersten Heineke, a Partner and the consultancy's resident micromobility expert, believes so. Speaking with Automotive World, he stated his belief that investors, regulators and micromobility companies are in a great position today. However, success is by no means guaranteed.
