New kid on the block? Bring it on, says Lear

Lear’s Matt Simoncini believes the separation of Johnson Controls’ seating business is welcome competition. By Freddie Holmes

Lear Chief Executive Matt Simoncini made a number of frank remarks at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2016 Auto Summit Conference in March. Asked whether the separation of Johnson Controls’ (JCI) seating business and subsequent rebrand to ‘Adient’ was a new competitive threat, Simoncini said: “Bring it on. I can’t imagine how this makes them more ready to rumble with Lear Corporation, because now they lose their big older brother on the block.”
