OEM involvement in mobility services could prove short lived

Is there an inherent conflict between operating mobility services and producing the vehicles they use? Some industry watchers believe there is, writes Megan Lampinen

Mobility services remain a hot topic across the industry, with many industry watchers predicting they will transform transport from a personal ownership model to one of shared access. The revenue generating potential of these services is significant - Frost & Sullivan (F&S) expects global car-sharing segment revenues to grow by 19.5% between 2016 and 2025, with an even more notable 24.5% jump for the ride-sharing segment.

The big question is, who will own these services?
