OEMs cannot wait for governments to address skills shortages

Overcoming the skills gap requires urgent auto industry action, including a renewed approach to talent acquisition. By Stewart Burnett 

Electric and connected vehicles pose a significant skill adaptation challenge to the automotive industry. A limited pool of talent means that organisations must engage in heated competition to secure skilled workers. Glenn Stevens, Executive Director at Michigan auto industry advocacy association MICHauto, previously told Automotive World that OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in the US are expressing universal concern about skills gaps.
