All-in-one ADAS solution a ‘necessary step towards autonomous drive’

Michael Nash talks to Renesas’ Uwe Westmeyer about the development of all-in-one ADAS solutions and bridging the gap to fully autonomous vehicle technology

All-in-one packages of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) have seen limited success in the automotive industry to date. Mobileye, for example, provides a single-solution aftermarket collision avoidance system for both fleets and private customers. This uses a vision sensor unit mounted on the windshield with a camera and an image processing board to recognise objects in the road and warn the driver of impending collisions.
