Opel pushes the ‘laws of physics’ with powertrain promises

Michael Nash speaks to the ICCT’s John German about Opel’s recent statement regarding future powertrain development

The German environmental group Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) recently accused Opel of using an illegal defeat device in the Zafira Tourer after carrying out numerous drive cycle tests. In a statement issued on its website, the OEM denied the accusations and outlined the future path of its diesel powertrain development.

However, it remains unclear whether these developments would be enough to meet future emissions standards, according to John German, Senior Fellow, the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT).
