According to market intelligence firm Analysys Mason, 89% of new cars will be connected by 2019. By this time, electronics and in-vehicle services will become the main cost component of vehicles, accounting for 40% of the total. The increasing amount of connected vehicles is therefore creating continuous demands for a well-integrated and cost-optimised vehicle platform. A current trend for OEMs and suppliers is to offer all of the previously separate in-vehicle systems and services in one package, allowing for cost-optimisation as well as comprehensibility for OEMs.
