Partner to survive – suppliers see collaboration as the key to success

A growing number of suppliers are finding themselves working with their peers as a means to excel in the world of software. By Freddie Holmes and Martin Kahl

In January 2015, Sachin Lawande, then Executive Vice President and President of Harman’s Infotainment Division, remarked that the company was aiming for ‘mega supplier’ status – that is, to be unrestrained by geography or technology. “The only way to break out of the pack is to focus on technology as the differentiator,” he noted at the time.

One year on and having moved away from Harman to the role of Chief Executive at Visteon, Lawande explained to Automotive World
