Plant economics prove tricky for Mitsubishi

High labour costs could have been instrumental to Mitsubishi’s exit from North America

After 27 years of operation, Mitsubishi Motor Corporation (MMC) has announced that it will halt production at its Normal plant in Illinois by the end of November 2015. Analysts believe that the decision is a result of economic issues within the state of Illinois that have made production at the facility increasingly expensive and unattractive.
