Platooning an ‘essential feature’ for a safer truck segment

The benefits of truck platooning are numerous. Easing the workload on drivers over long tedious journeys is arguably one of the most important factors, while improving fuel economy and enhancing vehicle safety also feature strongly.

According to a recent report by market research company Technavio, the global truck platooning system market will grow at a CAGR of 18.09% between 2016 and 2020. It suggests that truck platooning “will be viewed as an essential feature of the self-driven truck” and could also become an industry standard in the near future.
