Bosch has developed a smartphone integration system where existing smartphone apps can be controlled via the normal vehicle display

The rise of the smartphone has created a desire to stay ever connected, but it is becoming increasingly common to turn the car itself into a smartphone on wheels.

The majority (65%) of British 18-34 year olds – or ‘Gen Y’ – say that the latest smartphone has more value and use for them than the most recent car model. Greg Handrick, Partner at consultancy firm Prophet, told Automotive World: “This is a considerably different outlook from previous generations and car companies must find new, creative ways to appeal to them.”

To meet this demand, Bosch has developed a smartphone integration system where existing smartphone apps are made automobile-compatible, and can be controlled via the normal vehicle display.
