In the wake of high level cyber attacks on a growing number of major corporations and government departments, the issue of cyber security is gaining increasing attention in the mainstream media. When it comes to the automotive industry, there is a growing awareness of the future potential threats of an attack, namely external control of driving and safety-related ECUs; however, with still relatively few connected cars on the roads today, such threats remain in the future. Nonetheless, the automotive industry must act fast to build in the security that will be required to defend against those potential future cyber attacks.
In an exclusive interview with Automotive World, Paul Mascarenas, FISITA’s President and Chairman of the Executive Board, gave his views on the importance of a robust cyber security strategy, and how to develop such a strategy.
