Safety groups urge FTC investigation of Tesla’s ‘dangerously misleading’ Autopilot marketing

The name Autopilot may suggest more capability than it delivers, but is it deceptive and dangerous? Some safety groups think so, writes Megan Lampinen

There's a fine line between jazzy marketing and deception, and some safety groups think Tesla has crossed it with Autopilot. The system offers a range of semi-autonomous capabilities, such as adaptive cruise control, automatic steering, auto lane changing and self-parking. The trouble is in the name - certain players believe it implies more capability than it offers.
