Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software enables control of remote equipment and data acquisition in large-scale processes. Its origins can be traced back to the 1960s, when first-generation SCADA was used to remotely monitor operations in industrial applications.
The rise of cloud computing and the Internet of Things (IoT) has allowed SCADA to drastically reduce infrastructure costs while making maintenance and integration easier.
