Scania has been one of the most consistently profitable truck manufacturers in the world, returning a profit every year since 1934 including 2009 at the height of the global downturn. The VW-owned company now has in excess of 750,000 heavy-duty trucks and buses on the road worldwide. The OEM has been served well by a flexible, modular approach to construction, and a sharp focus on the premium end of the heavy-duty sector. It is in a good position to meet upcoming challenges.
