Vehicle sensors are by no means a new development: automakers began employing them as early as the 1950s, when they were used for basic applications such as low oil pressure warnings and other instrument panel functions. However, the gradual arrival of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and high-level autonomy is transforming requirements entirely. New players and industry dynamics have surfaced as a result.
