The zero-emissions commercial vehicle (CV) space is heating up: not only have the incumbents committed to a number of battery-powered trucks, vans and buses, but numerous start-ups have also successfully secured funding and major orders to pursue their agendas.
Like in the electric passenger car segment, these hopefuls have one advantage over their large competitors: the chance to build an electric vehicle (EV) from scratch, unhindered by legacy technologies and manufacturing setups. One company hoping to capitalise in this manner is UK-based Arrival. Founded in 2015, the company went public in March 2021 via special purpose acquisition company CIIG Merger Corp.
