Alongside residents such as Apple, Cisco, Google, HP and Intel, various automotive companies are now rubbing shoulders with consumer electronics giants in Silicon Valley. In January 2015, Ford opened a new R&D centre in Palo Alto, sharing the territory with none other than General Motors, but it is not just the OEMs flocking to the area; their Tier 1 counterparts are also feeling the pull.
