Simulators could be training tomorrow’s self-driving trucks

Will Girling examines the use of simulators to help autonomous trucks gain the thousands of miles’ worth of experience needed to navigate roads

A study conducted by the University of Michigan in March 2022 found that autonomous trucks (ATs) could theoretically replace 90% of human drivers in US long-range trucking. Although no definite timeframe was provided for this transition, this news will undoubtably pique the curiosity of industry chiefs still struggling with the global shortage of drivers.
