From start-up venture to US$15bn target: Mobileye comes under Intel ownership

As two more players join forces, competition in the lucrative autonomous drive segment heats up. By Megan Lampinen

Israeli start-up company Mobileye has agreed an acquisition by chip maker Intel, bringing together pivotal competencies to spur autonomous drive developments. Specifically, Intel wants to harness Mobileye's expertise in computer vision. The two have already been working together on a self-driving project with BMW, and it was through this collaboration that Intel saw potential for more.
