Stellantis issues four-week shutdown at Fiat 500e plant

The four-week shutdown of a plant in Turin is Stellantis’ latest move to counteract weak EV demand disproportionately affecting Italy. By Stewart Burnett

European automotive brands are continuing to struggle against waning market demand. On 12 September 2024, Stellantis announced a four-week halt to production for its electric Fiat 500e model, effective immediately. “The measure is necessary due to the current lack of orders linked to the profound difficulties experienced in the European electric market by all producers, particularly the European ones,” said the automaker in a media statement.
