Strained Sino-US relations could make life difficult for mobility tech players

For some, the arrival of the Biden administration marks the return of civil US leadership. There can be little doubt that Donald Trump’s penchant for incendiary rhetoric and populist shows of force was a contributing factor in the decline of Sino-US relations. In his last year as president, Trump repeatedly referred to COVID-19 as the ‘Chinese Virus’, closed the Chinese Consulate in Houston, Texas and attempted to ban the Chinese-developed TikTok and WeChat apps.
