Tata’s bigger trucks bring bigger sales, but passenger cars ‘de-grow’

Tata's fiscal year results reveal a mixed performance among its business units, reports Megan Lampinen

Tata Motors' latest financial results show continued weakness at the domestic passenger car operations but better than expected performances among domestic heavy trucks and the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) business. For the year ended 31 March 2016, consolidated revenue rose 5% to Rs 275,561 crores (US$41bn) though profit before tax (before exceptional item) fell 26% to Rs 16,100 crores.
