Self-driving vehicles are expected to improve road safety, the mobility of those who currently cannot use conventional vehicles, and reduce emissions. But questions about how road safety would be influenced during the expected transition period during which conventional and self-driving vehicles would need to interact on the road, mean that issues with the implementation of self-driving vehicles are beginning to raise their ugly heads.
