Like much of the industry, Shell agrees that oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and particulate emissions in heavy-duty applications have been largely brought under control through a combination of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and diesel particulate filters (DPF). However, heavy-duty engines remain one of the world’s largest producers of CO2.
