Tourism poses serious challenge for public transport in Vegas

Managing road congestion in a tourist haven demands a flexible and innovative approach to mobility. By Megan Lampinen

Public transport is positioned to play a starring role in future mobility ecosystems, no matter how clean or autonomous private vehicles become. Moving numerous individuals in a single vehicle dramatically reduces road congestion, a particular problem in urban environments. “Even if everybody had their own autonomous pod and we could drive bumper to bumper, there would still be traffic congestion,” Volvo Buses President Håkan Agnevall observed. “In an autonomous future we will still need to travel together.”
