Truck data – it’s how you use it, says Scania

Scania works closely with truck fleets to analyse and optimise their data; this helps the OEM with product development and the fleet with operating costs. By Xavier Boucherat

Scania’s telematics system, Scania Optimise, makes an explicit connection between data collection and driver training. According to Matthew Watson, General Manager at Scania Optimise Services, the connection is very clear: data gathered through telematics allows fleet managers to figure out where drivers could be performing better, and deliver the appropriate training. Adjusting driving behaviours, for example, can yield fuel efficiency gains, and alert companies to behaviour which could put profits at risk.
