Truck OEMs need to commit to ADAS adoption – NTSB

Widespread adoption of advanced driver assistance systems could significantly lower the number of collisions caused by commercial vehicles. By Michael Nash and Freddie Holmes

The number of passenger car vehicles that are equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) is rising. According to a study by Marketsandmarkets, the global market for the technology will grow at a CAGR of 10.44% between 2016 and 2021 before reaching a value of US$42.40bn. Adoption of ADAS in the commercial vehicle (CV) segment could significantly reduce the number of road traffic incidents if truck manufacturers commit to the technology.
