Global emissions regulations could spell the end for the naturally aspirated internal combustion engine, learns Freddie Holmes

Naturally aspirated passenger car engines are likely to become a thing of the past within the next few years, testament to the ever-tightening regulations around emissions and fuel economy facing global vehicle manufacturers. As a result, forced induction – and turbocharging in particular – is set to become synonymous with the internal combustion engine (ICE).
