Uber eager for AV trial restart, but authorities cautious

Uber is keen to restart public road AV trials, but armed with the NTSB's report into the fatal March crash, the city of Pittsburgh is taking a more cautious approach to AV testing, writes Megan Lampinen

Uber is eager to resume road testing of its autonomous vehicle (AV) technology. Following a fatal crash in March involving a test vehicle in Tempe, Arizona, the company temporarily halted all of its autonomous car and heavy truck road projects, including those in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Phoenix and Toronto. However, while Uber may be keen to get back in action, the crash has left many governments more cautious in their approach.
