The UK is encouraging the development of driverless cars on its roads with a multimillion-pound research fund and a review into the relevant laws around road safety, pushing ahead with ambitious plans to become a global hub for autonomous vehicle technology.
With £19m (US$28.8m) in government support, three separate trials will take place in England, running from 18 to 36 months. The trials will test different aspects of self-driving technology, taking place away from public roads.
