Shared mobility introduces fresh variables into VMT equation

Vehicles in the US are travelling more miles than ever and the trend shows little sign of letting up. The latest figures from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) show that US driving exceeded 3.2 trillion miles in 2016, marking the fifth consecutive year of increase. In December alone, vehicles in the US travelled more than 263.6 billion miles.
