Road congestion, air pollution, death and injury—the automotive industry has much to answer for. There are more vehicles on the road now than ever, and more traffic congestion. This means lost productivity for businesses, increased costs of transporting goods and wasted fuel. In the US alone, congestion costs the industry more than US$305bn a year.
