Some years ago, drivers were given their first taste of in-vehicle voice command technology. Many remain unimpressed: J.D. Power’s 2020 Initial Quality Study found that built-in voice recognition was still among the most complained-about features. At the same time, voice recognition technology in the home continues to grow, with almost one in four adults in the US now owning a smart speaker. The advent of deep learning and cloud computing capabilities has enabled natural language processing (NLP), freeing users from the constraints of legacy systems that require specific turns of phrase to activate.
