Volvo and Daimler agree to JV on software-defined trucks

Volvo Group and Daimler Trucks will jointly develop a software-defined vehicle platform to help transform the commercial vehicle segment. By Will Girling

On 28 October 2024, Volvo Group and Daimler Truck confirmed they have signed a “binding agreement” to jointly develop a software-defined vehicle platform for the heavy-duty segment. This solidifies plans that were first outlined in May. Transaction of the 50/50 joint venture (JV) is expected in H1 2025.
