Volvo Trucks North America recently launched a number of new integrated powertrain solutions, including turbocompounding for its D13 engine, I-Shift with crawler gears automated manual transmission and I-See – a system that learns the topography of the road to help save fuel. It also launched a one-box exhaust aftertreatment system (EATS) that combines a diesel particulate filter (DPF) with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and a diesel exhaust fluid doser in a single unit.
The OEM is confident that these solutions will help increase driver productivity, reliability, comfort and uptime, while enhancing fuel efficiency. Speaking to Automotive World, John Moore, Volvo Trucks Product Marketing Manager – Powertrain, explained how the company arrived at these solutions.
