VW, Audi dealers file legal challenge against Scout Motors

Volkswagen-owned Scout Motors has opted for a direct-to-customer sales model, triggering the ire of dealer networks across the US. By Stewart Burnett

A legal battle is flaring up between US Volkswagen dealerships and the automaker’s wholly owned subsidiary Scout Motors. On 3 February 2025, the first formal lawsuit on behalf of Volkswagen and Audi dealerships was filed in Florida, disputing Scout Motors’ decision to step around its traditional dealership network and pursue a direct-to-customer model.
