VW union talks enter “constructive” stage as strikes resume 

Volkswagen’s rejection of the union’s more modest cost-saving proposals could reflect a plan to shift production to other countries. By Stewart Burnett 

Volkswagen and its union workers continue to negotiate the company’s future plans. On 9 December 2024, the company held its fourth round of talks with its Works Council and labour unions, including IG Metall. This came against a backdrop of renewed strike action, as thousands of employees at nine plants downed their tools for four hours for the second time in 2024.
