The arrival of autonomous driving capability is putting a fresh spin on the science of human factors. Suppliers, technology providers and vehicle manufacturers are all keen to understand exactly how human occupants interact with a vehicle that drives itself, and what their priorities and concerns are in this new environment. Instead of bragging about horsepower and torque, automakers may instead be touting their models’ download speed and seating configurations.
