Connected and automated mobility (CAM) offers tremendous potential to address road safety, traffic congestion and air quality, but only if numerous stakeholders can come to an agreement on data sharing. Data lies at the heart of this emerging ecosystem, and it needs to be shared among various players, including automakers, service providers and governments.
“One of the primary challenges with CAM is to encourage organisations to release and share data,” observes Daniel Ruiz, Chief Executive of Zenzic, an organisation dedicated to accelerating the development of connected and autonomous vehicles in the UK. “The contention has to be that contributors can benefit if there is an appropriately designed marketplace where they can trade.”
