What will power delivery vehicles of the future?

These vans and trucks play a pivotal role in the world’s economies, and make a sizeable impact on the environment. By Megan Lampinen

The delivery sector is making tremendous strides in cleaning up its tailpipe emissions. According to Frost & Sullivan (F&S) estimates, logistics vehicles make up 30-40% of the traffic on the road in the average western city. With a boom in e-commerce, looming environmental targets and a growing number of city centres implementing low- and no-emission zones, the pressure is on to adopt greener solutions. But delivery as a segment covers a wide range of use cases, from short-range last-mile applications to heavier loads targeted at regional logistics and even long-haul across countries. A single solution may not work for every approach, at least not in the near term.
