Why electric trucks need to be all-round better than diesel

Unless EV trucks beat diesel on every metric, they're just another way of moving freight. By Oliver Dixon

That there is no little debate and increasing confusion surrounding Tesla’s much-vaunted move into the heavy duty truck space is perhaps the only observation that has attained greater clarity since the November reveal of the company’s electric Semi truck.

Pretty much everything else about the project remains firmly in the realm of conjecture. And if the landscape were not confused enough already, we can now add another nascent electric truck manufacturer – Thor Trucks – to the increasingly heady mixture.
