Mercedes-Benz and VfB Stuttgart have enjoyed close and friendly ties for many years. Mercedes-Benz is not just involved in VfB’s home games at the arena named after the brand, it also accompanies the team to away matches, where the team always travels under the Mercedes star. A look back at VfB’s greatest successes reveals that the car brand and team are inextricably linked here, too. Every championship title VfB has won since 1950 has been celebrated in style with a car parade through the city of Stuttgart. The links to the Stuttgart football scene go back even further still: at the end of the 19th century, the sons of Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach were among the founder members of Cannstatter FC, which played a key role in the formation of VfB.
The major exhibition entitled “125 years of VfB Stuttgart” at the Mercedes-Benz Museum from 9 September 2018 until 2 April 2019 will be a further highlight of this partnership. It enables visitors to experience a stadium atmosphere at the museum and brings the history of the club to life with more than 100 exhibits – from shirts and trophies to documents and stadium memorabilia. Also on show, of course: Mercedes-Benz vehicles from VfB Stuttgart’s championship-winning years.
