Award for apprentices at Daimler Truck: “Jochen Götz Award” presented for the first time to outstanding young talents

The “Jochen Götz Award” was presented for the first time to three trainees at Daimler Truck for outstanding personal commitment during their vocational training

This year, the “Jochen Götz Award” was presented for the first time to three apprentices at Daimler Truck who have distinguished themselves during their vocational training period through their outstanding personal commitment and exemplary teamwork. The award ceremony took place on November 18 as part of a festive event at the Unimog Museum in Gaggenau, Germany. The award is named after former Daimler Truck CFO Jochen Götz, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in 2023. In future, the award will be presented to three apprentices each year and is intended to honor young people who have distinguished themselves through outstanding personal commitment and social responsibility. The “Jochen Götz Award” is endowed with prize money totaling 15,000 euros.

Jürgen Hartwig, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Truck AG responsible for Human Resources and Labor Director: “Vocational training is of great importance to Daimler Truck. By presenting the ‘Jochen Götz Award’, we not only want to appreciate the extraordinary commitment of the trainees, but also pay tribute to our former CFO Jochen Götz, who embodied personality, motivation and commitment from vocational training to the Board of Management like no other.”

Michael Brecht, Chairman of the General Works Council of Daimler Truck AG and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board: “Commitment beyond the actual work in the company and vocational training is important for democracy and society. These do not always have to be big and spectacular issues. Even the small and seemingly everyday things contribute to this. Ultimately, it is this commitment that keeps the values of freedom, equality, justice and solidarity alive in a democracy. At the General Works Council, we are very pleased that we have many colleagues among our trainees who go far beyond the average level of personal commitment. Their exceptional commitment and willingness to take on responsibility are not only of great value for their own development, they are also role models for others. Such a highly committed workforce contributes to the success of Daimler Truck.”
