Baseball legend and 19-season New York Yankees’ pitcher Mariano Rivera test drove a Maserati Levante SUV yesterday, after a visit to the private Maserati collection of the Panini Motor Museum in Modena.

The relief pitcher, born in Panama in 1969, was a Major League Baseball (MLB) player from 1995 until his retirement in 2013, having played for the New York Yankees for his entire MLB career.

His many achievements include 5 World Series championships and the record of being the current MLB’s career leader in saves (652).

In the company of Matteo Panini, Rivera visited the Umberto Panini collection, which showcases some of the most iconic historic cars of the Trident House. He particularly enjoyed the Maserati 420M-58 Eldorado (pictured).

Rivera also had the opportunity to test drive a Maserati Levante SUV.

“It’s been an exciting day,” said Rivera. “Today I’ve had the opportunity to get to know the Maserati brand and appreciate the value of its long history. The cars in this collection are wonderful, and so is the Levante. This is such a great representation of what Italy is all about. I want to thank Matteo Panini and Maserati for having made this day possible.”
